Monday 5/7

1:16 a.m. To E. Lake Ave. for a report of a domestic dispute. As the deputy arrived, he saw the female half standing on the corner of Lake and Main. She said that she and her boyfriend are homeless and were having an argument. She was found to have an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass and was placed under arrest. She was searched, and the deputy found 4 syringes, 2 empty baggies and one baggie containing a crystal-like substance. She said the substance was fake meth. She was ordered into court and advised that the substance would be sent to the lab, and additional charges could be filed if it was found to be an illegal substance. She was also advised not to argue with her boyfriend in public.

5:17 p.m. A deputy was flagged down by a store employee about a theft that occurred around 11:15 that morning. She said that a man and woman entered the store and the man put a box of tampons down the front of his pants. She said she followed them down and saw them get into a tan vehicle with Georgia plates, but was unable to get the license number. She said that when they first arrived, they were with a woman who had previously been trespassed form the business. She showed the deputy video footage of the theft, but the deputy was unable to identify them. Around 4:00, the deputy saw the woman who had been trespassed and asked her about the couple, but she said she did not know them, and that they gave her a ride into town. She said she believed that they lived on Mark Dr. The deputy went to Mark Dr. and was flagged down by a man who asked who the deputy was looking for. She gave the man a description of the suspects and vehicle, and he said he saw the vehicle earlier and took a picture of it because it was parked illegally. Another deputy soon arrived and saw the suspect vehicle arrive and a man matching the description of the theft suspect exited the vehicle and ran into a home. Deputies were eventually able to get him to come to the door and identified him as the theft suspect. The suspect admitted to stealing two candy bars, but said he did not steal any tampons. He was charged with theft and ordered into court.

Tuesday 5/8

6:13 p.m. To N. Church St. for a welfare check. While speaking with the homeowner, he advised he received a letter from the Humane Society regarding treatment he received at the VA Hospital on 5/1/18 for a dog bite that occurred on N. Scott St. He said he was on N. Scott St. when a dog bit him on the forearm. He said he was treated at the VA hospital on the same day. The deputy went to the home of the dog owner, and the owner said he was aware of the incident, but doesn’t believe the RP. He said that his dog was in the fenced-in back yard when the RP was there. He was advised that he has to keep the dog quarantined for 10 days and that he would be hearing from the Dog Warden’s office.

Wednesday 5/9

1:27 p.m. To Detrick-Jordan Pike for a report of a burglary. A man reported that he is remodeling a vacant home and that someone entered through a garage door and took several of his items. He was not able to provide any serial numbers, but said that the initials I. R. are stamped on one of them. The deputy checked with pawn shops, but had no success in finding any of the items. There are no suspects.

Thursday 5/10

11:18 a.m. To Gerlaugh Rd. for a report of vandalism. A man reported that someone put a dent in his vehicle. He said that he is not sure when it happened, but that he needed a report for his insurance company.

Friday 5/11

8:34 a.m. To Grove Rd. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that she keeps her Xanax in the center console of her vehicle. She said this morning when she went to work and tried to take her medication, she found the pill bottle empty. She said she just refilled her prescription, and there were 112 pills in the bottle. She said she had left her vehicle unlocked. There are no suspects.

8:50 p.m. A trooper was advised of a possible intoxicated driver northbound on Dayton-Lakeview Rd. He located the vehicle and saw it cross the center line three times. He initiated a traffic stop in the 2100 block of N. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. The driver said that he knew he crossed the center line but was OK to drive. He said he had just left a friend’s house where he had “a couple of beers.” The driver smelled of an alcoholic beverage and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He did not pass field sobriety tests He was placed under arrest for suspicion of OVI and taken to the Clark County Jail for a breath test. At the jail, the driver questioned the operation of the machine and refused the test. The driver had 6 prior OVI convictions. Before his vehicle was towed, crushed beer cans were located under the seat and a cooler of beer cans was found on the back seat. The driver was cited for OVI, OVI refusal and marked lanes.

Saturday 5/12

1:06 a.m. To Lower Valley Pike for a report of an assault. A man reported that he was assaulted by an unknown male while leaving the bar. The man’s friend said that bar personnel know the identity of the suspect. The deputy went in the bar to see if there was surveillance video of the event, but found that there was none. A bartender said that the RP was upset with the drink that she made him she said that the RP said he was going to throw the drink on her and another patron heard the exchange, had words with the RP, then they went outside. The deputy said it would be hard to file charges on someone without much information. He was advised that a report would be filed.

Sunday 5/13

2:40 p.m. To Orth Dr. for a report of vandalism. A man reported that someone broke a window on his vehicle. He said he heard a loud sound and went out to see a passenger side window broken. He said a neighbor told him it might have happened while he was using his weed eater. The neighbor told the deputy that he also heard the noise, but he was not using his weed eater at the time. Neighbors across the street said they saw the neighbor using his weed eater, then go back inside. They said they then saw the RP come out and look at his window. They said they did not hear anything or see anyone near the vehicle. The deputy could not find any object that could have caused the damage, and did not believe it was a criminal act.

3:50 p.m. To Lower Valley Pike for a report of found property. A man reported that he found a gun in the grass while he was mowing. The deputy discovered that it was a pellet gun. It was submitted into property.

Saturday, May 12

10:27 a.m. Deputy responded to the 4400 block of S. State Route 201 on the report of a suicide.

11:55 a.m. Structure fire in the 4400 block of US Route 40. Upon further investigation, it was determined the start of the fire was suspicious in nature. This case is pending further investigation.

Sunday, May 13

00:06 a.m. Accident with no injury reported in the 9700 bock of Bellefontaine Road. Upon deputy’s arrival it was found the driver had fled the scene. The driver was identified and located. He was charged with Driving Under Suspension, Failure to Control and Hit Skip violations.

Tuesday, May 15

8:08 a.m. Civil dispute over a contractor not doing work he had been paid to do in the 6800 block of Scarff Road.

1:46 a.m. Assist squad at Sunshine MHP, 6254 US Route 40. Bethel Squad had been dispatched to this address on a report of a 31 year old male who was reportedly having a medical issue. After speaking with the RP, this turned out to be a civil/domestic dispute that had originated in Huber Heights. There was no domestic situation in Miami County. At the conclusion of this matter, all parties left Miami County and returned to Huber Heights.

3:00 p.m. Domestic violence situation in the 7200 block of Studebaker Road. After speaking with a female, it was determine this was a dispute.

Thursday, May 17

12:32 p.m. Animal complaint in the 4100 block of S. Dayton Brandt Road. Deputy was dispatched to a residence for the neighbor’s dogs barking.

1:27 p.m. Burglary not in progress reported in the 7200 block of Studebaker Road. No further information provided.

Friday, May 18

2:35 p.m. Disturbance reported in the 8400 S. State Route 201. RP reported a female had been punched in the face but was refusing squad. Dispatch advised deputy they heard people yelling and someone was threatening to shoot someone with a gun. The RP told dispatch it was a BB gun and was able to identify the male subject. Upon deputy’s arrival an elderly female was on the front porch and on the phone with dispatch. As the deputy approached the porch a younger male was trying to quickly exit out the door. Deputy observed a red mark on his stomach and asked him if he was the male that had a gun. The male stated he had a BB gun earlier and denied being in a physical altercation. The male was detained and checked for a weapon on his person. He was then walked to the deputy’s cruiser where he again was asked about the gun. He stated that it was a shotgun and it was in the house. Male also stated his mother is a convicted felon and he told her she could be in trouble over the gun. At the end of the investigation it was determined it was not a BB gun but was a shotgun used in the altercation. The gun was located in the house with one round in the chamber. It was also found that two females were involved in the physical altercation. One female stated she had been punched in the head by would not testify against the male. She also refused to cooperate after stating she had been punched. It could be heard on the recorded 911 call a female stating, “he just punched me in the head and I can’t do anything about it because he is my son.” The other female advised she had been in an altercation with her brother. She stated they threw stuff at each and were wrestling around. She advised they both were yelling at each other and he was mad. He then went and got the shotgun and she heard him “make a sound with it” and she ran outside. The mom, now identified as Tiffany Young, did give a statement that her two kids were physical and slapping each other. Young was found to have an active warrant from Huber Heights. An officer from the Huber Heights PD was on scene and took Young into custody for the warrant. The son, identified as Mason Moon, was placed into custody, transported to the Miami County Jail where he was incarcerated.
