Sunday 4/29
9:53 p.m. A trooper saw a vehicle northbound on Lake Rd. and was weaving in its lane. He initiated a traffic stop and as he approached the vehicle, he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. He asked the driver for the marijuana and she pulled a small plastic bag from her purse and gave it to her. The driver said she had last smoked about an hour ago. After failing field sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest. The vehicle was searched and more marijuana was collected. She was charged with marked lanes, OVI and possession of a controlled substance.
Monday 4/30
12:05 p.m. To Farmer’s Dr. for a report of a theft. A man reported that his credit card information was used to make several purchases in Florida. He said that two purchases were made at a convenience store, one for $100 and the second for $101. He said that he and his wife were in Florida in March, but the charges were made in April. He said he has since cancelled the card. There are no suspects.
4:12 p.m. To the 9100 block of Lower Valley Pike for a report of a burglary. Someone entered the home without permission and took a Ruger handgun and a muzzleloader.
9:00 p.m. A trooper saw a vehicle on Gerlaugh Rd. at a high rate of speed. The driver then turned onto Carlotta then onto Aspen. At Stratmore, the trooper saw the driver roll through the stop sign. He initiated a traffic stop on Stratmore. As he approached the vehicle, he could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver said he drank a couple of beers. His speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. The trooper could see an open beer bottle on the floor that was almost full. While taking sobriety tests, the driver said that he was drunk. Both the driver and passenger were patted down, the passenger first. The driver became upset and said that it was racist that the passenger was patted down first. The driver was placed in the cruiser and was yelling and hitting his head on the partition between the seats. While the trooper was conducting a pre-tow inventory of the vehicle, he heard yelling from his cruiser. He went to investigate and the driver was bleeding from his forehead. Medics were called and treated. The driver was taken for a breath test and showed BAC of 0.248. He was charged with speeding, OVI and disorderly conduct.
Tuesday 5/1
5:36 a.m. To the New Carlisle Fire Dept. for a report of someone breaking windows in a vehicle. While enroute, the deputy was advised that the suspect was now at Speedway swinging a bat at customers. At the Fire station fire personnel were holding a combative man on the pavement. They said that the suspect had broken a window at the Fire Station. The suspect was hallucinating stating that someone was trying to kill him. Physical force was required to handcuff the suspect and was combative and resistant while being taken to the cruiser. He began to kick once inside the cruiser, so his legs and ankles were restrained. He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center by New Carlisle Medics for evaluation. Warrants will be issued after the suspect is evaluated and treated.
1:15 p.m. To N. Main St. for a report of trespassers. A man reported that two people who had been trespassed from the business were there earlier in the day. He said he wants to press charges because he has had numerous problems with them. He provided surveillance video showing them in the business. Warrants were issued on both subjects for criminal trespass.
8:27 p.m. To Cordova Dr. for a report of damage to the residence. A woman reported that someone threw a brick at her back window and broke it. She said she was in another part of the home when she heard the noise. She said she looked around outside but did not see anyone. She said she is not having any problems with any of the neighbors and has no idea who would have done this.
Wednesday 5/2
12:16 a.m. To Lincoln Rd. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman said that her boyfriend was upset because he thinks she is cheating on him. She said that he had been drinking all evening and fled the home on foot. She said that he had the keys to her vehicle, and she didn’t want him using it. The vehicle was towed at her request. The boyfriend’s cell phone was pinged, but he had it turned off. The woman soon found her keys and was upset that her vehicle was towed.
12:11 p.m. To Hocker Dr. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her son was at his girlfriend’s home, and he was not supposed to be there. She said that she believes her son is on meth. She also said that her son took the girlfriend’s phone while she was talking to her. Deputies arrived to find that the door frame had been broken and it appeared that the door had been forced open. The girlfriend said that her boyfriend was there and assaulted her. She said that he was waiting outside her place of employment and was following her around. She said that when she arrived home from work around 1:30 a.m., the boyfriend climbed through her bedroom window and told her that he would leave their children alone if he could spend the night there, so she let him spend the night. She said that around 11:00 a.m., he woke up and started arguing with her, telling her that she was a bad mother and calling her names. She said she asked him to leave several times but he refused. She said that she called his mother and during the conversation, he took the phone. She said she then locked herself in the bathroom, but he kept banging on the door. She said he threw her phone outside and walked away. The next thing she knew, he had kicked the door open, then left the area. Her only injuries was redness on her face. Deputies found the boyfriend at another residence, took him into custody, charged him with domestic violence and assault. Neighbors reported hearing yelling from her apartment, and heard her tell the boyfriend to leave several times. Deputies found that the boyfriend has three previous domestic violence convictions. He was charged with felony domestic violence, misdemeanor assault, aggravated menacing and criminal damaging. He was taken to the Clark County Jail.
5:56 p.m. To Weinland St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her ex-husband was there to pick up the children and was upset that they were not ready. She said he threatened to kill her, kill the kids and kill himself. Her 9-year-old daughter confirmed her report. The deputy called the husband and advised him of the complaint against him and that charges would be filed. The husband expressed his disgust with the deputy and said that his ex-wife is “crazy” and tends to make things up. He said that he was at his girlfriend’s home but did not give the location. Warrants were issued for aggravated menacing and domestic violence.
Thursday 5/3
11:04 a.m. A New Carlisle man went to the Sheriff’s office to turn himself in. He had outstanding warrants for domestic violence and aggravated menacing. He was placed in the Clark County Jail.
