Sunday 4/22
1:52 a.m. To W. Madison St. for a report of suspicious activity. A woman reported hearing someone outside her house say “If you see headlights, duck down.” She said a strange vehicle was in front of her residence. Deputies could not find anyone outside the house. The RP was reluctant to come outside. The deputy then saw a vehicle matching the description of the one seen at the home. It turned onto Henry St. then onto Jefferson St. heading west. The deputy was able to catch up with the vehicle just before it crossed the county line. The vehicle stopped just across the county line. The passenger was found to have a warrant from Montgomery County for Felony Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. Another deputy soon arrived to get the passenger out of the vehicle and he said, “you have no right to get me out of the car.” He was advised that deputies do have that right, and before exiting the passenger said he had a handgun tucked in his front waistband. Both deputies drew their weapons and ordered both occupants out of the vehicle. The passenger was arrested on the warrant and was also charged with having weapons under disability, improper handling in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon. The driver was arrested for OVI. A friend came to pick up the driver and was told about the passenger and the gun. The friend said that he was missing two guns and described the one that the passenger had in his possession. At 7:00 a.m., the friend called with the serial numbers of the missing guns, and one matched the passenger’s gun. The passenger was also charged with receiving stolen property.
2:13 a.m. A trooper was patrolling Gerlaugh Rd. when he saw a vehicle cross the white line, then cross the center line. He then followed it onto Rt. 235 and he initiated a traffic stop. The driver had an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver said she was taking her passenger home, that they had just come from a bar and the passenger was drunk. She admitted to having two or three drinks. The driver failed field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for OVI.
7:01 p.m. To N. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. for a report of criminal damaging. A man reported that a vehicle on the premises had been damaged. He said the valve stems on three tires had been cut and the lug nuts removed. He said a window had also been cracked and a wheel on the driver’s side was missing. Surveillance video showed an individual causing the damage at around 1:45 that morning, but the video was not of sufficient quality to identify the suspect.
8:37 p.m. A trooper saw an SUV turn from Rt. 40 onto Tecumseh Rd. and went left of center. The driver then veered quickly back into his lane, then went off of the right side of the road nearly striking a mailbox. As the vehicle turned onto New Carlisle Pike, he initiated a traffic stop. The driver said he had just come from a bar in Park Layne and was unaware he had committed any violations. He had glassy eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for OVI. The driver’s mother and sister soon arrived to take possession of the vehicle. The driver was taken to the State Patrol Post for a breath test, which resulted in a reading of .150% BAC. He was charged with driving left of center and OVI. The driver said he is a recovering drug addict and is using alcohol to deal with his struggles. He expressed great interest in seeking treatment.

7:55 p.m. Traffic stop in the 7500 block of US Route 40
Wednesday 5/2
4:14 p.m. Theft not in progress in the 6200 block of Pisgah Road. The complainant advised a male friend was staying with her at the listed address for a short period of time. On the listed date, the complainant noticed that both the male and her vehicle were missing. The complainant advised she was having trouble contacting him in regards to her vehicle. This case is pending further investigation.
Friday 5/4
1:37 a.m. Traffic stop in 8900 block of US Route 40. Deputy observed the listed vehicle driving south bound on Dayton Brandt Rd. He got behind the listed vehicle at the stop sign at the intersection of Dayton Brandt Rd. and St Rt 202. The vehicle had its flashers on before turning east bound onto St Rt 571. After following behind the listed vehicle toward US Rt 40, it again turned on its flashers when turning east bound onto US Rt 40 and turned them off after the turn. Deputy also observed that the registration light was not properly working and instead of shining directly onto the registration, it was shining back toward deputy’s vehicle. When running the registration through LEADS, it came back to a red jeep and the listed vehicle was black and came back to a male. Due to not using a left turn signal twice, an improper registration light, and the registration not coming back to the listed vehicle, a traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. Upon further investigation, Ryan Esposito was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and cited for an improper registration light and driving under suspension. Amber Walden was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and a warrant out of Montgomery County for aggravated possession of drugs.
